Marvel Snap, the free-to-play online card game developed by Second Dinner, has recently introduced a new approach to balance updates as part of its latest update.
With the aim of ensuring fairness and fun for all players, GameRant tells us that Marvel Snap now provides weekly balance updates to fine-tune the game and create a level playing field for all participants.
Balancing Popular Cards in 'Marvel Snap'
Marvel Snap allows players to build their own decks of Marvel characters and compete against other players online. The game's simple mechanics have earned it a large fan base, with players selecting tactics to outplay their opponents.
To address balance issues, Marvel Snap recently announced that it would make weekly changes to card balancing, initially with numbers-only changes.
Larger patches will, as usual, include changes to card functionality and graphics. The goal is to prevent any single card or deck from dominating the meta, as well as to make reaching the maximum Collection Level less intimidating.
While some players may be disappointed that their favorite card has been adjusted, the weekly updates should assist Second Dinner in fine-tuning the game and ensuring fairness and fun for all players.
Only two to four cards will be updated each week, with larger patches released as usual.
In a FAQ, Snap said developers would decide which cards to change. They explained they have a prioritized list based on the expected impact on the metagame and how the cards will work alongside new cards and locations.
However, they also stated that they would consider the live metagame, meaning that they would make adjustments if the cards have a greater impact than initially predicted.
But why not just make all the changes at once? The developers have explained that they are cautious about making too many changes at once, as this could significantly disrupt the game's balance.
What's New with 'Marvel Snap'
The most recent Marvel Snap update also includes the "Animals Assemble" season, which allows players to get to know some of Marvel's non-human heroes and villains.
Players can expect new Animal cards to release weekly - starting with last month's Season Pass Card, Nimrod, released as a Series 5 card on April 4.
The game's simple mechanics allow players to make strategic decisions with ease, and new locations are added every week to keep the game fresh and exciting.
