The New York International Auto Show saw the launch of two new battery-powered vehicles: the Ram 1500 Rev and the Kia EV9, according to a report by AP.
Both vehicles were among only nine automaker news conferences, with many new models being rolled out previously as automakers move away from auto shows and introduce new products virtually.
Ram 1500 Rev
The Ram 1500 Rev is added to the market of pickups from Ford, General Motors, Rivian, and Lordstown Motors in a growingly crowded field where EVs are becoming more in demand.
Later this year, Tesla is expected to begin selling its eagerly anticipated Cybertruck.
There are two battery options available for the Ram 1500 Rev, one standard with a range of up to 350 miles (560 kilometers) and the other with a bigger pack that is projected to have a range of 500 miles (800 kilometers).
It can also carry 2700 pounds (1,225 kilograms) in its bed and tow up to 14000 pounds (6350 kilograms). The truck's 654 horsepower allows it to go from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive Rev can extend its range by up to 110 miles (177 kilometers) with a 350-kilowatt fast charger in around 10 minutes, according to Stellantis, the manufacturer of Ram trucks.
The truck can also power tools used on the job site, send power back to the grid, or power a house during a blackout. It is constructed on a brand-new structure that was created especially for bigger electric vehicles.
The truck will not be available in showrooms until the fourth quarter of 2024, and the cost of the upcoming vehicle will be disclosed closer to that time.

The New Kia EV9
Meanwhile, the new Kia EV9 has three rows of seating and can accommodate up to seven passengers, making it a little longer than the brand's well-liked gas-powered Telluride, according to AP.
The EV9 has two available powertrains: a conventional battery and rear-wheel drive, as well as an optional bigger battery with a predicted range of 300 miles (480 kilometers).
Another choice is all-wheel drive. According to Kia, the dual-motor GT line has 379 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in five seconds.
The EV9 will go on sale in the US later this year, and production of it is anticipated to begin at the company's plant in West Point, Georgia, beginning next year.
The manufacturer claims that it is examining the regulations and is unsure at this time if it will be eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. The cost of the EV9 will be revealed closer to the time of its release.
Moving away from gas-powered cars, both automakers have been concentrating on electric and hybrid vehicles. The transition to powerful, efficient, ecologically friendly vehicles is represented by these recent releases.
The Kia EV9 will be available later this year, giving customers more options in the expanding EV market, whereas the Ram 1500 Rev is expected to come around 2024.
