This detail was revealed by the new study conducted by Media Research Center; a conservative media watchdog.

The increasing number of censored posts on the social media platform is not something to be taken lightly, especially since Musk promised it will make Twitter a free-speech platform. However, it looks like the opposite is happening on Twitter.

Twitter Censorship More Rampant Under Elon Musk

According to The New York Post's latest report, Media Research Center observed and studied censored Twitter posts between November 4, 2022, and Mar. 4.

Based on its findings, the censorship activities of the social media company increased by 30% compared to the same period in 2021.

The majority (62%) of the censored tweets contain "left's transgender narrative" content. MRC said that over 180 tweets of the 293 documented censored tweets during the study's period involved transgenderism woke posts.

Because of this, the conservative media watchdog concluded that Twitter's valuation is not the only one that decreased, but also its worth as a new free speech platform.

"Twitter 2.0's value as the new free speech haven also ended up plunging like a bad stock market bet," said MRC via its official report.

Other Findings of MRC's Twitter Study

The Media Research Center said that Twitter locked user accounts as part of its censorship activities.

MRC added that banned Twitter accounts were required to delete their content for them to be restored.

The watchdog further stated that the social media company did this in 245 of the 293 censored tweets it observed.

This is much higher compared to MRC's recent Twitter study when Elon Musk was not the CEO. In its previous research, only 136 of the 226 studied censored tweets include locking accounts.
