Waymo One is pledging to an all-electric ride-hailing service for its public availability as it moves to phase out its older, gas-consuming vehicles, in favor of the Jaguar I-PACE. The company will utilize the fifth-generation Jaguar I-PACE to commandeer its fleet, with self-driving systems in place to bring passengers from point A to B.
The famed company is letting its older fleet go, particularly with the Chrysler Pacifica minivans that are best known for their hybrid setup, still heavily reliant on its gas engine.
Waymo One is Going Fully Electric with Jaguar I-PACE Fleet
Waymo's latest blog post in Waypoint announced the company's transition to a fully-electric fleet for the public to enjoy, centering on the Jaguar I-PACE as its main and only operational car on the streets. The company claims that its ride-hailing and self-driving fleet pledges one for the environment by finally transitioning to fully-electric vehicles.
The Jaguar I-PACE has been in service since 2018, but the company still operates the famed Chrysler Pacifica which was its main vehicle during it started its service from its public debut in 2017.
The transition will be complete by late April, and all places or states where Waymo One operates will only bring the Jaguar I-PACE to driving people around when hailing a ride.

Waymo Phases Out Gas-Powered Hybrid for EV
According to Waymo, this is part of the White House EV Acceleration Challenge that aims to transition all cars in the country into a fully-electric experience, to help reduce the United States' carbon footprint.
The company operated the Chrysler Pacifica for almost five years now, but this change would be similar to their past experiences of phasing out ICE cars in favor of more economical and environmental-friendly ones.
Waymo's Ride-Hailing Service
The famous Google-owned subsidiary started its ride-hailing service, paired with the self-driving technology mounted atop the roof of the cars in 2009. Fast forward to nine years later, the company debuted its autonomous service to the public, which started with Chrysler Pacifica minivans, also adding the Jaguar I-PACE electric SUVs.
Another iconic move from the company is headlining the self-driving robotaxi fleet in San Fransisco, one of the earliest cities in the country that allowed autonomous vehicles to drive around. It was alongside General Motors' Cruise which also joined the company in launching its ride-hailing services in the coastal city of California.
The company later added the Big Apple, New York City, as a place to start its services and journeys, further expanding its reach.
Waymo was operating with a mixed fleet since its beginnings, but this is the only time that the company transitioned to a fully-electric fleet, finally letting go of the gas-chugging minivans. Chrysler Pacifica helped Waymo One do wonders on the streets and gave people a chance to go their ways, and while Jaguar I-PACE will do the same, the public would be assured that it is a fully-clean ride all the way.
