Ubisoft, which previously confirmed its E3 2023 attendance, is now stepping back. It has now withdrawn from the game showcase.
In the next few months, the physical E3 event is set to make its comeback at the Los Angeles Convention Center. But it looks like major gaming firms, such as Nintendo and Microsoft, and now including Ubisoft, will be absent from the festivities.
Ubisoft is Skipping E3 2023
The gaming firm, which brought us hit games like "Assassin's Creed" and "Far Cry," initially planned to join the E3 2023 event this June. However, according to Video Games Chronicle, the game publisher confirms that it is pursuing a "different direction" instead.
Rather than joining the E3 showcase, Ubisoft is now working on launching an independent showcase alongside the happenings at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The Assassin's Creed publisher told VGC that it "initially intended to have an official E3 presence," but things changed later on. The firm has now "made the subsequent decision to move in a different direction."
Ubisoft Forward
Ubisoft now plans on pursuing its gaming showcase, alongside the E3 event. The gaming firm revealed that it will be "holding a Ubisoft Forward Live event" on June 12 in Los Angeles.
Games Radar notes that Ubisoft plans to kick off its independent event a day after the E3 2023 kicks off. The latter starts on June 11. It will be up and running for a couple more days until June 16.
Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo Are Out
With that said, the "Far Cry" maker is now following the route of other gaming giants, such as Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo.
The Xbox maker, Microsoft, previously confirmed that it plans to pursue an independent gaming showcase, the Xbox Game Showcase 2023 and the Starfield Direct, in the same week as the E3. So the Remond-based firm is skipping the event as well in favor of its showcase.
Meanwhile, the Japanese gaming firm Nintendo has also announced that it is skipping the gaming showcase this June. The Switch maker went on to say that the event failed to "fit into our plans."
While the gaming giant behind PlayStation, Sony, has yet to confirm its absence, Games Radar notes that it has been skipping the gaming showcase for years. Given that, the Japanese tech behemoth might do the same this 2023.
So it looks like Ubisoft is adding to the list of major gaming firms skipping the festivities for the physical comeback of E3 this year, alongside Nintendo, Microsoft, and potentially Sony.
