Apple AirPods Pro 2 Rumored to Have USB-C Charging Case
As industry insider Kuo claims, Apple is set to release a special edition of AirPods Pro 2 a few months from now. The pair of earbuds will allegedly boast the first USB-C charging case.

For Kuo, the iPhone maker will most likely initiate the shipments for the USB C-equipped AirPods Pro 2 by Q2 or Q3 of 2023.
Although he believes that this will all happen in one year, he says that Apple has not yet shared its plans to bring the same feature for AirPods 3.
Macrumors writes that up to this day, the AirPods Pro 2 rumor remains as rumor since it's still unclear if the USB-C case will be sold separately from the earbuds.
Currently, the AirPods Pro that are available has a charging case that can alert the user at times when a case is missing or misplaced.
The same case also comes with a UI chip which supports Find My app. Additionally, you can also use it along with an Apple Watch Charger.
It's possible that we could get the same features with the USB-C charging case. However, it will take some time before we know what it's capable of since Kuo's statements remain as rumors until no confirmation from Apple is publicized.

Why is Apple Shifting to USB-C Charging Port
As Tech Times reported in December 2022, Apple will be forced to use the USB-C port for device charging due to the new legislation about the Common Charger Law.
Under this new rule, all smartphones and other gadgets are mandated to utilize a universal port for charging. The European Union (EU) said that the new implementation will take effect on December 28, 2024.
Before Apple officially switches from Lightning to USB-C charging port, it may buy some time for the iPhone 16 which will allegedly arrive in September 2024. This way, they can see beforehand what devices will transition to USB-C cable.
