Decarnation: Creepy Story-Driven Horror Game Coming to Nintendo Switch in May

The game will also be available on Steam soon.

Get ready to face your fears as "Decarnation," an upcoming horror game, will be launched on Nintendo Switch in May.

Nintendo Life tells us that Shiro Unlimited, its publisher, already confirmed that the game produced by Atelier QDB would be a story-driven horror game that combines gross body horror with psychological chills.

'Decarnation' Will Bring Chills

"Decarnation" recounts the story of Gloria, a cabaret dancer who is battling with both her work and her mental health. Players will join Gloria as she faces her inner and exterior demons in both the real world and a phantasmagorical world of dreams and nightmares.

The game promises to create an emotional and shocking story-driven experience that will leave players guessing until the very end.

The game is a mash-up of several elements and types of gameplay, each of which is tailored to Gloria's scenarios and mental state. Players will go through a nightmarish 1990s Paris to unravel the mysteries of Gloria's traumatized mind and uncover a deep and relatable tragic story.

Traditional survival horror themes will be present in the game, such as cryptic puzzles to solve, challenging landscapes to explore, and dangerous creatures to avoid. Watch the official gameplay trailer here:

In addition to these features, there will be a wide range of symbolic minigames based on real-life situations, such as performing a cabaret show on stage, as well as metaphorical ones.

The key elements of Gloria's life help her overcome creatures in her dreams in unique battles that combine the grotesque and the sublime to depict her survival struggle. Gloria is strengthened by overcoming problems in her dreams, and her real-life issues produce new challenges in her dreams.

It is important to point out that the game may contain content that is not suitable for all ages or is not appropriate for viewing at work, such as some nudity or sexual content, as well as general mature content.

'Decarnation' Launches This May

The pixel graphics of the game accentuates the psychological horror of the many scenarios the character faces. "Decarnation" draws inspiration from classic 2D adventure-horror and survival-horror games, as well as cult films by Satoshi Kon (Perfect Blue) and David Lynch (Mulholland Drive).

The game will be released on PC via Steam (already available on the wishlist) and on Nintendo Switch in English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), and Simplified Chinese. As per Nintendo Life, Decarnation will be available on the Switch eShop in May for £13.49 / €14.99.

Further information on the game may be found on their official Twitter account.
