OpenAI CEO Says ChatGPT Bug Already Fixed; Users Can No Longer See Random Chat Histories

Some users no longer see titles of chats after ChatGPT fixes the bug.

Sam Altman, OpenAI's boss said that there's a bug startling some ChatGPT users this week. The vulnerability has been reportedly showing the chat histories of other people. For others, it might spark some privacy concerns for users who want to use the AI chatbot in secrecy.

When the AI-focused startup discovered that a new bug arose on ChatGPT on Tuesday, March 21, Altman immediately acknowledged the issue so the team could look for a quick remedy to patch it up.

In a latest report by CNBC, Altman says that the vulnerability in the open-source library of ChatGPT is finally removed.

"We had a significant issue in ChatGPT due to a bug in an open source library, for which a fix has now been released and we have just finished validating. A small percentage of users were able to see the titles of other users' conversation history," the OpenAI CEO said.

As early as Monday, March 20, some people complained that they were seeing other chats from users that they do not know.

For instance, a Redditor took his concern to the platform after he saw unrelated chats from random conversations. The discussion tackled "Chinese Socialism Development" and "Xi Jinping's Six Principles."

Jordan Wheeler, a Twitter user, posted another user's chat history. Although he could see the titles of the chats, he was not able to peek inside the content.

When OpenAI heard about the problem, it temporarily paused the chatbot tasks to pave the way for a potential solution.

With many reports coming from several ChatGPT users, the spokesperson said that the company felt "awful" about what happened earlier this week.

ChatGPT conversations which contain chat histories from 1 AM to 10 AM of March 20 are now cleared up. Altman concludes that the team already fixed the bug. Users could no longer see what's inside each history.

ChatGPT Rivals Launching Left and Right

After seeing the immense popularity that OpenAI is reaping right now because of ChatGPT, many companies attempt to launch their own versions of the AI chatbot.

Inquirer reported that Google released Google Bard to compete with the ChatGPT. Microsoft also launched its own version of the AI tool which is accessible in Bing search engine.

As we know, ChatGPT has many applications because you can use it anywhere. If you have mathematical assignments to answer, you can talk to it to give you an instant response.

While the language model of ChatGPT is very impressive, some people think that it's unethical to use it when it comes to academic purposes. Some teachers oppose the idea of using it in schools while some professionals believe that it can be a useful software to speed up learning among students.

The availability of ChatGPT does not mean that you need to abuse utilizing it because some clones only imitate the legit app.

As Tech Times wrote in its latest report, a fake ChatGPT on Google Chrome has a dangerous Trojan that can steal Facebook accounts. At all costs, stay alert against this malicious extension.
