Meet Domus

Domus is being planned as a 40-meter sailing vessel that can propel itself using wind, solar, hydro regeneration, and hydrogen fuel cells to deliver unlimited range without any carbon emissions.

The design concept was introduced in 2022 by the two super yacht developers, and their collaboration led to a solar trimaran.

The designers crafted a 40-meter trimaran concept that is fully silent with zero emissions. They intend for it to set sail as the world's first solar superyacht with unlimited range in the future.

The concept involves an optimized system of solar power and battery storage that will allow the yacht to motor during daylight hours and transfer over the battery system at night. This also allows the yacht to be fully silent with zero emissions while at anchor.

Domus also boasts of an aerodynamic design to ensure the best performance at sea. It can also heel at an angle of two degrees which can reduce drag and deliver maximum speed.

The yacht promises over 8,000 square feet of space across two separate decks.

As for its name, it is derived from the Latin domesticus, which represents a single-story home built around an atrium.

The Amenities

Now, for the fun part! Domus will have several amenities, such as a cinema room, a saloon with a bar, and a spa area with a swimming pool.

Domus is a representation of the new methods when designing superyachts that are spacious, safe, and sustainable. It also represents the evolution of technology and design.

The designers behind Domus are constantly looking for ways to enhance the design of super yachts. They also believe in their project, which has the potential to redefine what a multi-hull sailing super yacht can be.

Superyachts are a symbol of luxury and extravagance, often associated with the lifestyles of the rich and famous. These yachts are typically over 100 feet in length and state-of-the-art feature technology, luxurious amenities, and exceptional design.

Today, superyachts are more popular than ever, with growing demand from wealthy individuals and corporations looking to showcase their status and wealth. Many superyachts are custom-built to the exact specifications of the owner, with features such as helicopter pads, swimming pools, and even submersibles.

While superyachts are often associated with excess and opulence, many owners and builders are also incorporating sustainable technology and eco-friendly features into their designs. This includes hybrid and electric propulsion systems, solar panels, and advanced wastewater treatment systems.

However, superyachts also face criticism for their environmental impact, particularly in sensitive marine ecosystems. As awareness grows about the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship, there is increasing pressure on the industry to reduce its impact and promote responsible practices.
