Black Wings Game Studio, the developer of one of the most awaited video games in mobile platform "Persona 5" has confirmed the new spinoff for the title.
With "Dancing in Starlight" and "Persona 5 Strikers" showing up for the past spinoffs, it's now the perfect time for the Phantom Thieves to invade the world of iOS and Android devices.
Brand-New 'Persona 5' Title
For those wondering what this mobile version is all about, "Persona 5" is a brand-new game that is inspired from the original video game.
According to Gematsu, the game still borrows the unique characters belonging to Phantom Thieves.
While the gameplay is basically the same with the PS5 version, it should be noted that its visuals are quite toned down to keep up with the performance of a smartphone.
Atlus and Sega won't be handling the development of "Persona 5: The Phantom X" since Perfect World Games' Black Wings Game Studio is the developer of this title. P-Studio will only supervise the whole development.
Shigenori Soejima, the artist behind the original "Persona" franchise, will illustrate the protagonist and his Persona in-game.
As of now, the final release date for P5X remains unannounced. Since it will be a free-to-play game on mobile, we expect to see in-app purchases that players can opt if they want.
"Persona 5: The Phantom X" will be exclusively rolling out to beta testers in China. It will be first available on Android and iOS on March 29. The ported version is coming to PC on the same date, according to Engadget.
Glimpse of 'Persona 5: The Phantom X' Trailer
As Pocket Tactics reports, the game will take place in Japan where a group of people will discover their personas. Later, they will also uncover the mystery behind them.
The promising trailer reveals that the red-haired protagonist named Wonder will be the start of the show. He is studying at Kiba Academy as a sophomore student. His persona is said to be Yanoshik.
Another interesting character in the new "Persona 5" game is Arai Suwa who is also known as Closer.
Just like Wonder, she's also a second-year student in the same school. The difference is she's more easy-going compared to the main protagonist. She will be guided by her Persona Awilda which used to be a trademark of a once-popular female pirate.
The gang won't be complete without Luffy, who is not from "One Piece" anime. This particular Luffy is described as an owl who has an alternate name dubbed "Cattle." His special ability is turning into a delivery van, something that's similar to Mona from "Persona 5." Rob Roy is his persona.
