Baidu only released the imperfect version of Ernie Bot because there's a rising market demand for AI-powered chatbots.
During the demonstration, Ernie Bot was able to write a poem and answer questions. Aside from these, the new Baidu AI chatbot also produced a video and image with prompts.
Although much is still needed to be done with Ernie (Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration), this new AI-powered chatbot is still considered the answer of China to ChatGPT.
Baidu said that it will use the new Ernie Bot to revolutionize its search engine technology.
Ernie Bot's Leads to Baidu Share Decrease
Channel News Asia reported that the arrival of the new Ernie Bot was not a good one for Baidu's shares.
When the new AI chatbot was demonstrated, the Chinese tech firm's shares decreased by 10%. Although this is the case, the new Ernie Bot still attracted many interested investors and partners.
Baidu said that they are expecting more than 600 companies to join their new Ernie ecosystem. Chinese state media outlets, as well as a Shaolin temple, already signed up to become the first partners of Ernie Bot.
