Elon Musk's Tweets Are Hurting Tesla's Reputation With Buyers, Survey Says

More Twitter users care about Elon Musk's tweets about Tesla.

Every time Elon Musk posts his sentiments on Twitter, Tesla is potentially losing customers. The controversial tweets coming from one of the richest men on Earth have negative implications on the part of the would-be buyers.

For some people, Musk's demeanor online is connected to the performance of the company.

When Musk fired and mocked an employee because of his impairment, many Twitter users think that the business tycoon is crossing his limits. The incident spelled trouble for the whole organization and of course for the willing car buyers

At that time, Musk issued an apology after the incident. However, many people are still not convinced if he is already true to his words.

According to Vox, while many people don't use Twitter, a new survey says that more buyers start to stay away from Tesla as their top choice when it comes to car brands.

YouGov concludes that in 2022, 17% of the people who plan to purchase a Tesla EV decided to put the company on the pedestal on top of other options.

Now, the customers' preference seems to have changed this year as the number plunged to 9%. Tesla is now behind Toyota and BMW.

It also appears that Elon Musk's tweets are driving the actual sales of the company. The report suggests that there's a 58% decline during Q4 2022, a 20% drop during the same quarter of 2021.

Negative Favorability Score For Tesla

According to YouGov, many buyers who want to buy a Tesla car prioritize price as the most important factor in getting a vehicle.

Next to the pricing, other people consider looking for the potential issues that they might encounter on a Tesla unit. As such, they check if it's vulnerable to software problems, malfunctioning steering wheels, and more.

Since last spring, more people are shifting from Tesla to other brands. While more Elon haters are emerging recently, some people think that he still got what it takes in managing a car company.

When Musk acquired Twitter back in November 2022, the net favorability score of Tesla dramatically hits negative mark. This means that the number of people who dislike the firm exceeds the number of those who like its service and products.

It's clearer now that Musk's social media antics have huge implications to the sales of his company. Somehow, it has become a part of its downfall or growth over the time.

Twitter and Elon Musk Connection

Back in February 2023, Tech Times reported that Musk was found to be not liable over his tweet about Tesla. The San Francisco federal court junked the allegations about securities fraud.

In the same month, Engadget reported that a lot of Twitter users were seeing tweets which mostly came from Musk. It seems that the microblogging site has prioritized his tweets over other content on the platform.

Recently, Sky News wrote that "Match of the Day" host Gary Lineker called out Musk after sending a threatening private message to his son.

The abusive message, according to Lineker, says that Musk described his eldest son George a "mug" who should be "burned at the stake."
