Apple’s AR/VR Headset is Coming as Tim Cook Pushes for Launch Despite Design Team’s Objection

Apple wants its wearable to release this year, no less.

Apple is now at a crossroads as its CEO and current leader, Tim Cook, is pushing for the launch of the AR/VR headset this year, and no less than that. There was a significant time already spent developing the device for almost seven years, and the executives, including operations head Jeff Williams, are also pressuring its arrival this year.

This is despite the design team allegedly saying that the mixed-reality headset is not yet ready, wishing for more time to develop and refine the device before it heads to the public.

Tim Cook is said to be pushing for the launch of the mixed-reality headset, according to Financial Times, alongside Jeff Williams, claiming that they intend to see an early launch with the limited product. Cook reportedly centers more on the operations team in his leadership of the company, unlike Steve Jobs who relies more on the discretion of the design team.

Despite the concerns of the design team, it remains to be seen whether Tim Cook will go ahead with the launch of the mixed-reality headset. If the product is released, it will be interesting to see how it is received by consumers and how it compares to similar products on the market.

According to Mac Rumors, the design team centers on lightweight AR glasses that are still under significant revisions and development, while the operations eye a ski goggles-like device that wraps around the head.

Apple's Design Team for Wearable Asks for More Time

The mixed-reality headset is expected to be a game-changer in the virtual and augmented reality space, providing users with a more immersive and interactive experience than ever before. However, the design team's concerns about the product's readiness are understandable, as Apple is known for its attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality products.

Apple's AR/VR Headset: Its Long Development

The Apple Reality Pro, widely known as its AR/VR headset, saw a long development of the device, with leakers and insiders claiming that there have been significant efforts put into its creation by the Cupertino company. Despite the many information and leaks behind it, the device remains unconfirmed by the company which puts it at a questionable existence.

Apple centers on creating both the product and its operating system under the name "xrOS," which would provide the experience to translate its capabilities to the public.

Leakers claim that this Reality Pro's operating system is the highest priority from the company, over its famed systems including the macOS 14 and iOS 17.

The Cupertino-based company's leaders want to bring over the device to the public at the earliest possible time, with its development seeing significant efforts for its push this year. Cook and Williams want the world to see the first wearable AR/VR headset from Apple soon, but it is unknown if the design team could pull it off for their anticipated timeline for the device.
