Apple AR/VR headset might work fine without an iPhone or iPad as it potentially debuts this 2023.
The mixed-reality headset of the iPhone maker has yet to formally launch, but rumors are slowly giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the rumored AR device.
And this time, a new prediction points out that the AR/VR headset is likely independent of other Apple devices.
Apple AR/VR Headset Might Work Independently: Even Without an iPhone?
As per a news story by Apple Insider, the long-awaited augmented reality/ virtual reality (AR/VR) headset of the renowned tech firm might work even without another device, such as an iPhone or an iPad.
So it seems it would run independently once it starts hitting the shelves sometime this 2023. Thus, you no longer have to be an iPhone or iPad user to use the mixed-reality device. If you are currently using an Android device, it should not be a hindrance after all.
Previously, observers initially suspected that the upcoming AR/VR device of the iPhone maker would require its users to use an Apple device for it to work. However, it seems that the tech juggernaut is planning otherwise.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman disclosed some details about the upcoming mixed reality headset in his latest Power On newsletter. He predicts that the AR/VR device "probably won't require" an iPhone to set up or even merely use the device.
The sources of Gurman claim that the giant phone maker is now testing a version of the mixed-reality device that works independently sans any iPhone or iPad.
And as such, you may set up the AR device without pulling out another device. If users want to download their content or information elsewhere, the headset could reportedly get straight from your iCloud data.

Apple Reality Pro 2023 Release Date
Apart from the confirmation that the Apple AR/VR headset likely works independently, Gurman further spoke about its potential release date.
The Bloomberg journalist states in his newsletter that he believes that the mixed-reality headset is debuting during the WWDC 2023. And it could potentially start reaching the doorsteps of its first customers before the year ends.
On the flip side, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo notes that the second-generation AR/VR headset, which comes with a cheaper option, is likely coming in 2025, reports Mac Rumors.
The second generation could potentially offer lower-end and higher-end variants, giving Apple fanboys a much more affordable option.
