UBreathe Entrepreneurs Showcase Plant-based Air Purifiers on Shark Tank India Season 2

Plant-based purifiers might solve the air pollution that's aggravating the environment at the moment.

"Shark Tank India" is a popular TV show in India where aspiring entrepreneurs showcase their pitches when it comes to technology, business, and other areas.

The reality show, which is currently in its second season, has seen an impressive product made by two ITT graduates.

A pair of aspiring entrepreneurs created a plant-based purifier that could be the key to solving the worsening air pollution in India.

UBreathe Founders Secure Funding For Plant-Based Purifier

According to Mashable, Subham Singh and Sanjay Maurya, the two men behind the plant-based purifier are also the pioneers of the UBreathe biotech startup.

The Gurugram-based firm aims to deliver a smart purifier that makes use of natural air-purifying features similar to a real plant.

The innovative design of the product borrows inspiration from modern-made purifiers, but the process is all-natural by any means.

The young entrepreneurs behind this invention reportedly secured Rs 1.5 Cr or nearly $183,000 from Namita Thapar, one of the judges on "Shark Tank." She's also the executive director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Maurya and Singh said that they felt thrilled to have a working opportunity with Thapar after receiving a huge amount of funding for the project.

Importance of Plant-Based Air Purifiers

Across Delhi, air pollution is a serious problem that many people face daily. According to experts from popular Indian universities, a human's life in this territory decreased by 10 years when exposed to air pollution.

The impact of this environmental problem is also felt in other areas outside the city including Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. People who live in these locations are expected to have an average life expectancy reduction of 2.5 to three years.

With plant-based air purifiers, the natural purification process is amplified so humans can breathe fresher air indoors.

The smart bio-filter is what filters the pollutants and contaminants that make the air stale. The best part about this product is that you are not required to water the plant regularly thanks to its water reservoir that's already built here.

Another Bioengineered Houseplant For Air Purification

Aside from UBreathe's unique plant-based air purifier, there's another group of inventors who arrived with almost the same concept.

Neoplants, the company behind this innovation, has unveiled NeoP1, a plant that is capable of cleaning the air inside a bedroom.

Sifted says that this extraordinary houseplant will be available in the US this year at $179 per pop. It will be a great alternative to the synthetic alternative that you can buy in other online stores.

So far, Neoplants have already secured $20 million in funding from several partners such as Collaborative Fund, Heartcore, True Ventures, Entrepreneur First, and Niklas Zennstrom.

Neoplants' co-founder Lionel Mora says that the most powerful function they could give to an iconic organism such as a plant is air purification. This is also the reason that pushed them to arrive at this idea.
