Apple's iPhone 15 Pro will be an all-new device from the company, and it would center on the latest of what the company has to offer, with leaks now claiming a new design for its volume buttons. It would also include the Mute switch in the update, as it would change the entire side's design and function, now with a Force Touch-enabled button instead of the slide switch.
The update would center on fewer moving parts for the iPhone 15 Pro series claims the reports, and more importantly, it would protect itself from catching dirt, a problem for the side switch for a long time now.
iPhone 15 Pro is Updating the Volume Buttons to a 'Unified' Design
According to an exclusive report by 9to5 Mac, the iPhone 15 Pro has a new update to its design, as per the insiders from the company, and this would be an update to its volume button which was used by the company for a long time now.
Instead of separate Volume Up and Down buttons, it would be a "unified" design that will be on a single cutout but would correspond to the command that a user gives, based on the location of their press.
From physical buttons which were prone to malfunctioning should the user drop the device in a destructive way, it will center on capacitive touch features that will be more durable, as it has fewer moving parts.
Last year, Ming-Chi Kuo also said that instead of the physical buttons, Apple will adopt a solid-state capacitive touch button for its volume, a first for smartphones.
iPhone 15 Pro is Also Changing the Mute's Slide Switch
The update to the iPhone 15 Pro would revamp the entire left side panel, and it also includes the mute side switch for users that previously needs to be slid side-to-side for its function. According to the report, it will be similar to the Force Touch from the iPhone 7, first applied for the home button of the device.
Instead of the sliding mechanism that is notorious for catching dirt, it will be a button that needs a specific actuation for it to perceive the change.
