Get ready for the next battle! And we mean another epic battle between a father and a son that will surely unleash the devil gene of excitement in all of us.
Bandai Namco is preparing for its next battle with the new installment of its popular fighting game franchise Tekken. On Tuesday, February 21, we get a glimpse of one of the most pivotal characters from the video game, the devil who killed his father: Kazuya Mishima.
The Devil Returns
As reported first by Games Hub, the iconic antagonist Kazuya Mishima returns to Tekken 8 with a new look and move set, as shown in the latest gameplay trailer. The trailer reveals Kazuya donning a purple crocodile skin coat and utilizing his classic moves, with a range of fast and hard-hitting combos.
Kazuya will also tap into his Devil form, featuring giant horns, bat-like wings, and laser attacks blasting through his forehead gem just like Devil Jin. This form enhances every punch and kicks and throws greater damages to his opponents. His special attack also involves a combination of the Devil laser and a mid-air leg drop.
The trailer features a combat scene between Kazuya and his son Jin Kazama, with energy blasts and flying rubble accompanying each punch. Kazuya's presence in the game is crucial to the Tekken 8 storyline, marking a return to tradition for the series.
But most importantly, Tekken 8 will be another father versus son moment with Jin taking on his father Kazuya.

Will Devil Kazuya be a Standalone Character?
Tekken 8 is still in the works and the full roster of characters is yet to be revealed. So far, the confirmed characters are Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Jack-8, Lars, Nina, Paul Phoenix, and Jun Kazama's long-awaited appearance.
Some fans argued that Devil Kazuya should be a standalone playable character in the new Tekken installment, similar to Devil Jin.
Kazuya's devil form made its official debut in the original Tekken as an unlockable third costume and became a standalone character in Tekken 2 as the final boss.
In Tekken 7, Kazuya can transform into his devil form in mid-fight and Tekken 8's new gameplay trailer showed him tapping to his devil gene and shooting a laser from his forehead, which is similar to one of Devil Jin's moves.
This iconic antagonist is a mainstay in the Tekken universe and his rivalry with his son will be the focal point of the new game. Hence, there might still be a chance that Devil Kazuya becomes a playable character.
The longest-running video game narrative presently belongs to the Tekken series. It was reported earlier in 2022 that Tekken 7 holds the record for the series' best-selling game since its release in June 2017. A total of 53 million copies of the game were sold globally, according to a report by Eurogamer last year.
