Microsoft Teams recently launched a new feature that enables call participants to simultaneously mention everyone in a group.
TechRadar tells us that this "Mention Everyone" feature is similar to how Microsoft Teams users can "@ mention" a specific person within a chat, but with the option to "@ mention" "Everyone."
While the new feature may save time by eliminating the need to mention each person's name separately, it may also trigger a barrage of notifications and pings on smart devices throughout the company. Could this feature be helpful or turn into another spam tool?
Mentioning Everyone in Chat Made Easier
According to the official Microsoft 365 roadmap, the feature is intended to relieve users of the burdensome task of having to mention each person's name one at a time or risk omitting someone.
Slack, a major competitor to Microsoft Teams, currently enables participants in a chat to mention anyone else in the conversation simply by saying "@here."
The new feature is currently being rolled out and is available to all users of Microsoft Teams across all supported platforms, including iOS, Android, Desktop, and the Web.
More from Microsoft Teams Chat Feature
The update is the most recent addition to the Microsoft Teams chat feature as the company strives to turn the platform into a global communications hub.
Team Chat Finder
Additionally, users can now access full chat conversation threads by clicking on a search message result. When users search for a chat message in Microsoft Teams and click on a message result, they are transported to a view that shows the entire thread, including the requested message, instead of only a single line of text as was previously the case. Presenter Window usability
Microsoft has also just moved the controls for the new Presenter window to the top, making active speakers' faces more visible during screen sharing, and has revealed notifications for raised hands.
Microsoft Teams 2.0
In addition, Microsoft is currently working on a new build of Teams, which will deliver significant performance improvements and help save your device's battery life.
The software "Microsoft Teams 2.0" has been redesigned to be compatible with modern computers. This means that it should be more efficient, which should lead to a quicker overall experience and less of a strain on the battery life of laptops.
"Teams 2.0 will consume half the memory of the same consumer account on Teams 1.0," as indicated by Microsoft. As a result, companies might distribute less powerful gear to certain staff, reducing their overall costs. End users should also observe an improved battery life when utilizing the software.
The new "Mention Everyone" feature in Microsoft Teams is intended to save users time by allowing them to mention everyone in a chat at once. While it may save time, it may also generate a lot of notifications on many smart devices.
