Microsoft, the Redmond-based firm, announced a 10-year deal with Nintendo to provide their popular Xbox titles on Nintendo's own consoles. Currently, "Call of Duty" (CoD) is the only title to be featured.
We previously reported the announcement and as an update, Daniel Ahmad shares how MW2 could be ported since it already works on the PS3 and 360.
Xbox and Nintendo Coming Together to Bring CoD to Switch Players
According to the story by Giz China, gaming fans worldwide were absolutely floored when Microsoft announced they had signed a 10-year contract with Nintendo to bring an Xbox-exclusive title, "Call of Duty" (CoD), to Nintendo Switch players.
This news means Nintendo gamers can play what is arguably the most popular shooter franchise in the world, and the first installment to be featured will be the iconic title "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." However, the pressing question for many gamers is whether the Xbox games can run on their Nintendo Switch consoles.
Microsoft Plans to Offer Same Game Across Consoles and Steam
This is not the first time that Microsoft has considered a partnership with Sony to bring their games to the PlayStation. Before the Nintendo news was revealed, the franchise had also offered a similar deal to bring their titles to the popular gaming console.
It also emerged that Microsoft plans to launch the same game on Steam at the same time as on Xbox, meaning Steam users will get the same access to the game as console-based gamers, as also shared in an article by Engadget.
Antitrust Regulation Versus Microsoft's Acquisition of Activision Blizzard
The news certainly gives us something to get excited about, and here's hoping that Xbox games can be properly ported over to the Nintendo Switch. Even if they can't, we now have the opportunity to play CoD on the portable console, and that's surely a step in the right direction.
Microsoft is looking to acquire Activision Blizzard in a $68.7 billion deal, but the proposed merger meets some serious resistance. The United States Federal Trade Commission has imposed a ban on the deal, and the European Union may follow suit in declaring that the acquisition could seriously impact competition in the gaming industry.

Effects of Microsoft's Proposed Acquisition on the Gaming Industry
The core of the EU's concern is that Sony's PS5 and other consoles could become less competitive because of Microsoft's acquisition. And it makes sense. Microsoft may have an unfair advantage over other companies because of the deal, so the EU is taking steps to address the potential consequences for the gaming industry.
Microsoft is making a play to convince the EU that its deal is fair. It requested a hearing from regulators to present its arguments. The meeting will take place today, but it is not guaranteed to be successful.
The fate of the $68.7 billion deal is still unknown. It remains to be seen how Sony, Microsoft, and regulators will react to the proposed acquisition and how it will affect the gaming industry in the long run.
