Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Qualcomm chipset for future Android flagships, might have a release day that is earlier than expected.
While Android devices are now starting to adopt the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, it looks like Qualcomm is gearing up for an early launch of its successor.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Might Release Earlier Than the Gen 2
As per a report by 9to5 Google, a leaker confirmed that Qualcomm is planning for an early Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 release date compared to the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Digital Chat Stations says that the release date of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is "a bit earlier" compared to the current Gen 2 processor.
It is worth noting that the Snapdragon Gen 2, which now powers Android flagships like Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and One Plus 11, debuted in late November 2022.
9to5 Google further notes that the arrival of the Gen 2 is already ahead of its predecessor, which saw the light of day in December, in time for the new Android devices for next year.
When is the Release Date of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
Given that, Digital Chat Station suggests that the release date of the new flagship Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, is sometime in October 2023 or early November.
The leaker did not mention any specific timeline. But based on the release of Gen 2, it might be a month or week earlier.
With that, 9to5 Google highlights that the potential arrival of the new Snapdragon flagship chip comes alongside the launch of the new Google Pixel 8 series, which features the all-new Tensor G3.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Phones
According to a report by XDA Developers, the OnePlus 11 and Samsung Galaxy S23 are some of the first Android devices to sport the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
And as such, it is expected the Chinese phone maker, OnePlus, and the South Korean firm, Samsung, will continue to be the first to feature the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
OnePlus is set to debut the all-new OnePlus 12 later this year. On the other hand, Samsung is expected to introduce its upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra in 2024.
However, do take this with a grain of salt. The two giant phone makers has yet to unveil its next-generation flagship devices.
