This is a big deal since artificial intelligence is quite efficient when it comes to any game.

Unlike human players, AIs have trained thousands of times in a short period.

But, Go player Kellin Pelrine was able to win against AI, winning 14 out of their 15 games.

This became possible thanks to the artificial intelligence model's flaw.

According to Engadget's latest report, the AI system that lost against Pelrine was the Katago system.

The amateur player was able to beat it, thanks to the help of FAR AI's program.

Using the research firm's program, they analyzed the AI's moves, studying millions of its games.

After that, they were able to identify a flaw that Kellin was able to exploit.

Pelrine said that the flaw was not trivial, but it was still hard to pull off. He also used this method to win against another top Go AI player, Leela Zero.

The Winning Method

KataGO's weakness involves encircling its stones. After that, Pelrine distracted the artificial intelligence by making his moves in other areas.

"As a human, it would be quite easy to spot," said Perline.

He added that encircling the stones is clearly noticeable.

This just shows that AIs are still having difficulties thinking in other areas where they are not trained at.

Go Fun Facts

For those who are wondering what Go is, it is a Chinese strategy board game; it uses black and white stones.

Sensei's XMP explained that Go had been around 2,500 to 3,000 years.

Aside from being an ancient game, it is also the second most-played game across the globe.

Now that you know what Go is, here are other fun facts about this Chinese board game:

  • Go is believed to reverse common senile dementia in old people.
  • Go is helpful in the mental development of children.
  • Professional Go games are televised in Japan, Korea, and China.

Although AI models have flaws, many companies are becoming more interested in artificial intelligence technology.

Recently, Beijing officials said that they wanted to support the upcoming ChatGPT clones in China.

Meanwhile, some experts claimed that ChatGPT could help improve people's health.
