Steam Deck now lets players transfer games from their PCs to their Valve handheld gaming devices using a local network.
And as such, they no longer have to re-download their PC gaming titles on their Steam Deck, essentially reducing their internet use. Not to mention that the game transfer option should be quicker for those with frustratingly janky internet connections.

If you have a bandwidth capacity on your internet connection or it is simply too slow, Engadget notes that this new Steam Deck feature changes everything.
Valve recently gave Steam Deck a new feature that lets users do game transfers using their local networks. It enables them to copy a file on their PC to their handheld gaming device without using the internet.
The Steam Deck maker touts that it should help reduce not only the internet traffic but also the time it takes to install a game. It no longer has to deal with what your internet connection speeds offer.
The gaming firm further notes that "Local Network Game Transfers are great for Steam Deck owners, multi-user Steam households, dorms, LAN parties, etc."
Valve adds that gamers no longer have to worry about bandwidth caps when transferring files from their PC to the Steam Deck.
How to Transfer Game Files from PC to Steam Deck
According to a report by The Verge, the new game transfer feature is available on the latest beta update for the Steam Deck. So if you are on the stable version, it might start rolling out soon. But for now, only beta testers could enjoy it.
It is worth noting that you also have to install the Steam client beta on your PC to get your hands on the new feature.

The Verge highlights that the new feature also works vice versa. If you want to transfer a Steam Deck game to your PC. You may do so by following the same process.
Apart from the new game transfer support, Valve recently introduced a new Steam "Big Picture Mode," which looks a lot like what Steam Deck offers.
