Although the new virtual reality wearable is still days ahead of its launch, many people were able to try the new goggles.

Enthusiasts said that the new PlayStation goggles is among the best VR hardware that consumers can purchase.

However, despite its advanced features, they believe that it is still not suitable for the metaverse.

Why PSVR 2 is NOT for Metaverse?

According to The New York Times' latest report, there are various reasons why the new PSVR 2 is not suitable for metaverse use.

The first one is the lack of next-gen apps. For example, one of the games that can be played using the new VR headset is the "Horizon Call of the Mountian"; a VR spinoff of the popular "Horizon Zero Dawn" title.

Other playable games include "Tetris Effect: Connected," "Moss," and "Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy's Edge."

Although there would be newer games, the upcoming titles, such as the "Gran Turismo 7," are still quite old since most of them were launched around two years ago.

Aside from the lack of new applications, the PSVR 2's design also negates the idea of the metaverse, which is inclusivity.

Metaverse platforms are being created in hopes to allow people to connect virtually with one another.

But, the physical design of PSVR 2 is not suitable for this as it still offers mostly solitary experience.

PSVR 2 Review

GameRant reported that the upcoming PSVR 2's design is a little different from its predecessor; PlayStation VR (PSVR).

But, unlike the first version, the new PSVR 2 offers a secure wearing experience that is not too restrictive or tight.

One of the major enhancements it received is a set of four cameras that register head movement.

Thanks to this, the new PSVR 2 no longer needs to rely on trackers, making it an inside-out tracking VR device.

Based on these details, it can be concluded that the new PSVR 2 is really for gaming. This is a good thing since PlayStation's business focuses on games.
