Artificial Intelligence is a massive part of everyone's daily lives, particularly its growing presence in the entire world, among the many technologies people encounter frequently. The Pew Research Center looked into how much Americans know about the AI presence in the usual tools and tech present now and their roles in society.
Despite having tools that center primarily on AI, the standard technologies present to the public already integrate this kind of intelligence, which may need to be clarified to some if it contains the tech.
AI in Our Daily Lives: How Well Do Americans Know About It?
The Pew Research Center surveyed how much Americans know about artificial intelligence and garnered conclusive evidence about how people need to work more on its awareness.
According to the study, Americans are aware of AI and its presence in common, everyday devices they own. It includes examples like AI chatbots, wearable fitness trackers which analyze data, product recommendations based on previous searches, security cameras, playlist recommendations, and e-mail spam bots.
However, Pew Research Center claims that only three in 10 Americans can correctly identify all six examples where AI exists.
Americans are also cautious about how much impact AI brings to their lives.
According to Pew, "Just 15% say they are more excited than concerned about the increasing use of AI in daily life, compared with 38% who are more concerned than excited; 46% express an equal mix of concern and excitement."
Should there be more AI Awareness Among the Public?
AI is already considered a massive technology industry, and there are multiple studies or research behind it, per a recent report from Stanford University.
With Pew Research Center's study, there is a need to bring more awareness to this growing tech amongst the public, especially for those concerned about what it brings to the world.
AI developments now center on helping humans have an easier life, as not all are out to get them or replace their roles in society.
Artificial Intelligence and How it Helps
The world's most intricate or highly-complex technologies already employ AI services to power them and function with minimal supervision to do their creators' bidding to achieve their goals. However, despite the complexities of this world, AI helps in everyday things, as it is one of the key focuses of this technology.
Web browsers already employed AI before the recent rivalry between Google and Microsoft, which recently announced their integrations to browsers.
Bard is the latest chatbot for Google, and ChatGPT now powers Microsoft's Bing, but both search engines feature artificial intelligence to help people generate better results.
AI is also famous as an assistant, one which helps users daily on their smartphones, and some notable examples are Siri, Bixby, and Google Assistant.
Pew Research Center aims to know about Americans' awareness regarding the highly-coveted tech in our society now, especially with the latest integrations it presents worldwide. AI is all around us, and it is slowly becoming one of the most reliable functions among present devices and experiences, which users need to know about to maximize the use of its services.
