Samsung's One UI 5.1 is rolling out to older Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Z Flip4, among others, ahead of the release of the Galaxy S23 lineup.
The South Korean phone maker has confirmed that the new One UI update is now on its way to millions of Galaxy users in various parts of the world.
Samsung One UI 5.1 Rolls Out
Sam Mobile notes in its report that the phone maker began seeding the One UI 5.1 update to older Galaxy mobile devices early this week. But this time, Samsung has made its release official.
The Galaxy S23 series has yet to start its shipment to its early customers, which comes with the latest One UI version right off the bat.
And as such, the current rollout of the update to older Galaxy phones made sure that its other devices are not getting left behind.
The executive vice president of Samsung Electronics, Janghyun Yoon, says in a press release that "One UI 5.1 is the up-to-date example of Samsung's commitment to providing Galaxy users with the latest innovations as soon as possible."
Yoon further disclosed that they have "worked closely" with the carrier partners and service providers of the Korean tech behemoth to roll out the new update to select Galaxy phones.
The release of the new update comes shortly after Samsung introduced its all-new flagship lineup, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, in time for their release on February 17.
Which Galaxy Devices Are Included?
The new One UI 5.1 update is now rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, as well as its predecessor, the Galaxy S21 lineup, and the much older Galaxy 20 phones. The release includes the Fan Edition variants of these devices.
On top of the S-series flagship phones, the new update is now available to the current foldable lineup of Samsung. Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 users can now get their hands on the latest update.
The tech giant notes that the update is also coming to Z Fold3 and ZFlip3 devices "in the coming weeks."
What's New on One UI 5.1?
Samsung says that the new version of One UI offers new and improved Expert Raw and Camera apps, as well as new Battery and Dynamic Battery widgets, according to Android Police.
The new Multi Control feature is also arriving in version 5.1, which helps users connect their Galaxy Book and Galaxy phones. Apple iPhone and Mac users might find it familiar, as it works like Universal Control.
