The U.K. crowd at Friday night's live Celebrity Big Brother eviction mercilessly booed Perez Hilton. Still, he managed to narrowly escape eviction as fellow housemate Alicia Douvall was sent packing instead.
Internet blogger Perez Hilton's narcissistic behavior has aroused the ire of the British public and of thousands of Twitter users using the #Getperezout hashtag to vent their frustration. As we reported earlier, Hilton has alienated most of his housemates as a result of his childish and incendiary behavior, falsely accusing one housemate of racism, comparing another to cancer, and suggesting that two attractive female housemates engage in "fake lesbianism" to secure votes and retain their places in the house.
More recently, Hilton has threatened in several tantrums to quit the show, demanding a lawyer. He also stripped down to his underwear and simulated sexual acts in the house garden, and paraded around with a large chunk of cheese shoved up his nostril before retiring to the diary room where he ate it. He also accused fellow housemate and primary nemesis in the house, U.K. blogger Katie Hopkins, of homophobia simply she because she suggested instead of running away from arguments and the criticism of his fellow housemates that he "take it like a man."
Hilton was nominated for eviction by the majority of his housemates, along with three other nominees, but was not expected to go on Friday, primarily because housemates who are loathed by the viewers are often kept in because of their entertainment value. It appears, however, that his shtick is wearing thin, as host Emma Willis exclusively announced that the bottom three vote-getters were separated by less than one percentage point.
When Willis announced that the two highest vote amounts were received by model Calum Best and talk show panel host Nadia Sawalha, it seemed as if Hilton's time might actually be up. During the announcement, the live crowd booed Hilton loudly and mercilessly, continually chanting the "Get Perez Out" catchphrase that they also shouted at the last eviction. Alas, the ditzy but sweet Alicia Douval, whose questionable celebrity status comes as a result of her extensive plastic surgery in order to look like Barbie, received the fewest votes and had to leave the house Friday night.
To celebrate, Hilton danced around the house in his underwear making faces at the many cameras, which record the housemates 24/7. With another eviction looming this Tuesday, and Hilton almost certain to be nominated again, it remains to be seen whether the thousands chanting and tweeting #Getperezout will soon see their dream become a reality.
