ChatGPT-powered apps are gradually penetrating web browsers. As a matter of fact, they will be a part of the upcoming updates for these apps.
Opera, one of the most used mobile browsers, has unveiled its plans to use AI-based apps for its next browser upgrade.
The company shares its desire to incorporate more AI elements on the sidebar so people can have the option to explore what's in store.
ChatGPT-Powered Apps on the Web Browser
The internet was surprised when ChatGPT showed how it could do tasks beyond human capacity. It's a perfect app that works best if you have assignments or questions in your mind. However, it won't still work without human intervention.
According to a report by ZDNet, while Opera announced that it would launch AI app integration on its browser, it's not the first browser to do so.
As such, Microsoft previously mentioned that the Microsoft Edge browser would soon receive a dedicated AI Sidebar feature. This will give users more information about the company's key takeaways from competitors.
Opera Wants to Invest in AI Features on its Browser
Opera users can soon utilize the "Shorten" button, which is accessible in the address bar. Once you tap this icon, a summary written in a bullet point will appear. It contains a summarized version of the article that you are currently reading.
In addition, Opera says that more features related to AI services will be added to the browser sidebar in the future. The company has not yet mentioned the extra updates that will debut.
So far, the only thing we know about is that Opera will bring a way for the browser to interact with the chatbot.
While it sounds good on paper, the browser might need some help from the users, especially in parsing the additional information.
"Users of the Web are constantly flooded by content in amounts that are impossible for us to process. With generative AI helping us create written materials faster, there will only be more and more content," Opera explains in a blogpost.

Per Wetterdal, Opera's head of strategic partnerships and AI, said that the future would rely on the era of Generative Intelligence. This way, Opera will take advantage of Google Bard to bring solutions to AI-based platforms.
