Google Bard, a new AI model that can rival OpenAI's ChatGPT, has been confirmed by the search engine giant on Monday, Feb. 6.
Recently, rumors already hinted that there would be a new artificial intelligence that will complete with ChatGPT.
Google ended all the speculations about this new AI by confirming the arrival of Bard. On the other hand, a leaker recently showed that Microsoft Bing would have ChatGPT as its new feature.
With the ChatGPT integration and Bard's upcoming launch, it seems like the marketing industry will need to make some adjustments soon.
Will Google Bard, Microsoft Bing ChatGPT end SEO?
Via his official Twitter post, Dreamsoft Innovations Co-Founder and Director Sanchin Ganesh explained how ChatGPT and Bard could affect marketing.
He stated that Bing's ChatGPT integration and the arrival of Google Bard could mark the end of SEO (search engine optimization) and start AEO (answer engine optimization).
ChatGPT and Bard both rely on any kind of inquiry (question) to generate text-based answers.
This means that instead of entering keywords, users are required to type in their questions so that the AI models can provide better responses.
What makes ChatGPT and Bard better than the typical search engines is the way they prove more engaging answers.
As of writing, Google hasn't confirmed if Bard will also be integrated into its search engine technology. If ever Google Search receives Bard as a new feature, then it would change how users search for content.
AEO Vs. SEO
Although idea shared by Ganesh is possible, it is hard to tell if it would really happen, especially since AEO is a part of SEO.
MarketMuse explained that the answer engine optimization is an SEO sub-field.
Marketers use AEO to create content that can provide direct answers to consumers' questions.
AEO is already being used by content creators and marketing experts to attract more consumers. But, if Google Search is integrated with Bard, then there's a chance that AEO would be the main focus of the marketing industry.
Aside from Bard, Google is also conducting other efforts in the ongoing AI race. Recently, Google invested over $5 billion in ChatGPT's competitor.
