Tesla Model Y Price Increase in US

As per a recent report by Inside EVs, the giant car maker updated the pricing of the Model Y in the US following recent price changes. And this time, its starting price just got less affordable.

If you were planning to buy a Model Y last week and decided to hold it off, you might be surprised by its new price bump.

The Standard Range all-wheel drive option now costs $500 more in the US. And besides the entry-level variant, the Performance model also saw a $500 increase in the country.

Tesla investor, Sawyer Merritt, disclosed in his recent tweet that the Musk-led EV maker increased the pricing of the Model Y by up to $500.

New Tesla Model Y Prices

With the latest price hike, the Model Y AWD Standard Range now starts at $51,490, roughly 1 percent more expensive than its previous $50,990 pricing.

On the other hand, the Long Range AWD maintains its price tag. Buyers could still get their hands on it at around $54,990.

But the same could not be said for the Performance variant, as it got the same hike as the Standard Range AWD. With that, it now retails for $58,490, which is nearly 1 percent more expensive than its previous $57,990 tag.

Inside EVs notes in its story that the latest price update is the third instance that the carmaker adjusted the pricing of its vehicles since they aggressively dropped last January 12.

It is worth mentioning that the American carmaker recently updated the pricing of the Tesla Model Y in China as well. Reuters reports that the pricing of the EV saw at least a 0.8 percent increase in the Chinese region.

Meanwhile, the pricing of the other Tesla EVs, including the Model 3, Model S, and Model X remain the same in the US.

The Model S starts at $94,990, whereas the Model 3 RWD sells for only $43, 490. The Model X SUV, on the other hand, costs $109,990 for its Long Range AWD variant.

The pricing above excludes additional fees, such as Order and Destination fees, which could be around $1,640.
