To celebrate the debut of their newly announced SUV, Toyota partnered with Nintendo to launch a special cross-promotion. Select purchasers will get a Nintendo Switch and a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at no additional cost!
This is the second time Nintendo has teamed up with an automobile manufacturer for Mario Kart 8. In 2014, the game included three Mercedes-Benz automobiles, including the GLA, the W 25 Silver Arrow, and the 300 SL Roadster.
Special Cross-Promotion
Toyota used the most recent Chicago Auto Show to announce a peculiar cooperation with Nintendo to promote the launch of its 2024 Grand Highlander. It will be available to the public beginning in the summer of 2023.
In honor of the event, 500 lucky buyers of the high-end SUV will get a special OLED Switch and a physical copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at no cost.
GameRant reported that to celebrate its second Nintendo partnership after the Pikachu "Pi!car!" initiative, Toyota even sent a unique Grand Highlander to the 2023 Chicago Auto Show (CAS), complete with a Switch-themed vinyl cover. Visit the automaker's CAS exhibit to witness the one-of-a-kind car until the expo ends on Feb. 19.
The new Grand Highlander and the Nintendo Switch, according to Toyota Marketing VP Lisa Materazzo, are the ideal combo for families and road trips because of their ability to keep everyone entertained.
The nature of this cross-promotion has yet to be determined. It might take the shape of a contest, or Toyota could just provide the gaming package for free to the first 500 customers who purchase a 2024 Grand Highlander.
In any case, the offer is not open to anyone outside the US.
Nintendo's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The newest flagship Mario Kart game will turn ten in a matter of months, but Nintendo is still supporting its 2017 Deluxe rerelease for the Switch, as the Japanese video game giant is presently putting out a large 48-track extension.
The fourth wave of downloadable content for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Booster Course Pack, will be released in the spring.
Toyota will throw in a Nintendo Switch and a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, however, this Booster Course Pass DLC for that game is not included, according to the company's release.
Those who win a copy of the game with the 2024 Grand Highlander in the future will still have to pay $25 to get their hands on the highly regarded expansion. The Booster Course Pass may also be obtained for free in conjunction with a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, which costs $49.99.
