Uber is soon launching Apple CarPlay on the Uber app. In the next few weeks, the drivers can now access the car's dashboard to utilize this feature.
For those car owners with iPhone, expect to see this integration by the end of the month. Apparently, it will initially be available to US-based drivers.
Uber Apple CarPlay Integration
For those unfamiliar with CarPlay, it's a smart integration system that allows users to access their apps or infotainment software in the car through an iOS device.
This means that this feature won't allow you anymore to switch between your smartphone and the screen during trips. All it takes is a single click to access CarPlay in your car. It will help you navigate with ease thanks to the virtual map and even play songs while you're on travel with your friends or family.
According to TechCrunch, Uber's navigation system will be somewhat easier to use with Apple's CarPlay. Aside from using a bigger screen for better viewing, you can now search for the streets and roads at a larger perspective on the display.
How to Link the Uber Driver App to CarPlay
For those who still have no idea how to connect their driver app to the CarPlay, here are the steps you need to follow.
- First, open the Uber driver app from your iOS device.
- Click "Go" to activate the online connection.
- Then, you can now connect your iPhone to the car. You have two options here: either wireless approach or with cable.
- After linking it up, open the CarPlay and access the apps, songs, and other software you want to use on-the-go.
Uber Sees 49% Revenue Increase In 2022
In another report by Entrepreneur on Thursday, Feb. 9, Uber has achieved a very satisfying result in its last-quarter revenue last December 31, 2022.
After their revenue jumped to 49%, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in an earnings report that their performance was the "strongest" during the said quarter.
She acknowledged that the company managed to net an impressive revenue of $8.6 billion with "robust demand and record margins."
Amid the several layoffs from other tech giants, Uber appears to be an outlier in the situation. As inflation hit many companies and forced them to kick their employees amid COVID-19 lockdown, the ride-sharing firm delivered more different results than everyone could expect.
The New York Times reported that Uber's revenue improvement defied the economic downturn that affected establishments and businesses around the world.
The positive performance of Uber has put it in front of the competition with Lyft, another company focused on ride-hailing service.
One of the potential reasons why Uber's revenue rose is because of the priority shift. According to Tech Times, some people might think that services should be prioritized over goods during the pandemic scare.
