Tesla Model Y Price Increase in China This 2023

A recent report by Tesla North points out that the Elon Musk-led automaker hiked the pricing of the Tesla Model Y RWD in China.

The news outlet notes that the new pricing sees the light of day shortly after the price cut last January.

Previously, Tesla Model Y only started at around 259,900 yuan in China. But after the nearly $300 increase, it got a bit more expensive.

The all-electric carmaker now offers the Model Y RWD for 261,900 yuan or roughly $38,500. So buyers in China now have to pay more to get their hands on the Tesla EV.

Tesla North says that the American EV maker recently dropped the pricing of the entry-level Model Y last January 6, 2023. It used to retail at around 288,900 yuan. But after the massive price decrease, it sold for only 259,900 yuan.

However, that pricing did not last long, as Tesla now reportedly hiked the price tag of the Model Y in China. It is unclear what triggered the hike.

Yet, a similar price update occurred in the other part of the world, Australia.

Tesla Model 3, Model Y $400 Hike in Australia

Drive.com.AU reports that the pricing of the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y jumped in Australia.

The entry-level Model Y RWD now starts at $69,300 in the Australian region, no thanks to the $400 increase.

Drive.com notes in its report that last January 6, the Tesla Model Y only retails for $68,900. But starting February 10, customers now have to pay a bit more.

Despite that, the higher-end Model Y Performance all-wheel drive (AWD) maintains its $91,396 pricing.

Besides the Model Y, the Model 3 RWD sedan also saw an inflating price tag. It now sells for $64,300, which is a bit higher than its pricing at the start of the year.

Roughly a month ago, the entry-level Model 3 only carries a $63,900 price tag. Now, it retails for more than $64,300, requiring buyers to pay more than what they had to last month.

Meanwhile, the Long Range AWD and Performance AWD options skipped the recent price increase, selling for $76,900 and $91,396, respectively.
