Bill Gates Says AI, ChatGPT Progress 'Excites' Him
Gates recently sat down in an exclusive interview with Forbes where he spoke about AI and the partnership between OpenAI and the firm that he co-founded, Microsoft.
Interesting Engineering reports that Gates admitted that the current progress in AI excites him. He told Forbes during the interview that "the progress [in AI] has gotten me quite excited."
It is worth noting that Gates' Microsoft is one of the early investors of OpenAI, the firm that brought us the ChatGPT chatbot today.
The business magnate went on to talk about the possibilities that ChatGPT might offer in our day-to-day lives. He offers that the potential of the AI-powered chatbot is "pretty fantastic."
Gates says that the possibilities for the chatbot include being a "math tutor [that is] available to inner city students."
Not only that, he offered that it might also give "medical advice [that is] available to people in Africa who during their life, generally [would not] ever get to see a doctor."
Despite that, Gates admits that ChatGPT "is truly imperfect." He goes on to argue that "nobody suggests it [does not] make mistakes, and [it is] not very intuitive."
But the Microsoft co-founder notes that it looks like the chatbot also knows when it makes mistakes. In one instance, when they were training the AI with Sudoku and it got the wrong answer. The chatbot surprisingly blurted out "oh, I mistyped."

Meanwhile, Gates recently pointed out how important ChatGPT is these days.
