"The Last of Us" series is already on Episode 5, and it gave people an introduction to a dystopian world where a fungal virus took over the world and turned them into the undead. Of course, this leaves a massive question to the world and pop culture, which massively centers on mushrooms, particularly in the "Super Mario Bros." franchise set in the Mushroom Kingdom.
"Teen Titans GO!" artist Dan Hipp shared his gruesome reimagination for the world with "The Last of Us" and "Super Mario Bros." artworks which infect the once euphoric kingdom.
'The Last of Us' x 'Super Mario' Gruesome Artworks from Dan Hipp
Naughty Dog gave the world much to think about when a fungal pandemic started messing with people's minds and turning them into uncontrollable cannibals out to hunt fellow humans.
It also inspired a famous graphic artist, Dan Hipp, to take "The Last of Us's" virus over to Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros."
Hipp applied the gruesome edits in his latest artwork posted via Twitter, showing off a recurring character, "Toad," as one of the zombies from "The Last of Us."
This is only fitting, as "Super Mario" is set in the Mushroom Kingdom where Princess Peach and her subjects are residing, filled with colorful fungi sprouts and the Mushroom People.
The graphic artists did not hold back in delivering a gruesome look to a once lovable and personable character in the game franchise.
The Mushroom Kingdom with a Fungal Pandemic is also on SNL
Hipp was not the only one envisioning a collaboration between "The Last of Us" and "Super Mario," as an SNL skit starring Pedro Pascal as Mario shows the dystopian Mushroom Kingdom also smeared with the virus.
Here, Pascal exhibits his comical side while playing as the Italian plumber and trying to survive in a dystopian fictional world through the pipes. In this version, Pascal's Mario is hired as a driver, but not in his usual gleeful aura, seeing as the kingdom fell to the virus.
'The Last of Us' Influence on the World
Naughty Dog gave the world "The Last of Us," and as far as first looks go, it may only be an ordinary survival and story-based game where its main characters try to survive a zombie apocalypse. But it is more than that.
This award-winning title already has massive sequels, alongside a possible part three game in the future, depending on the story's creation. It also goes alongside the already-confirmed game called "Factions," a multiplayer game that is set in the same universe as the original release.
There also is a new ongoing series via HBO Max that centers on a live adaptation of the game, headed by Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.
Researchers and experts also answer the question that the series left the world, focusing on the possibility of a fungal pandemic infecting humans and turning them into mindless zombies out to hunt for fellow people.
