‘Call of Duty: Warzone 2’: DMZ Mode in Season 2 to Require Payment for Access

Season 2 is coming but will require payments to access DMZ mode.

"Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0" is nearing the release of its Season 2, but it is now tearing its gamers in half as the company will allegedly require payments from the public to access the DMZ Mode. Paywalls for better content are not new in the media and entertainment industry, but "Warzone 2.0," is a new setup that may change the experience in-game.

The latest battle royale game from Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward came to gamers for free, so this latest change in Season 2 may shake up its core, especially for its prized mode.

According to the company's latest blog post, Season 2 is coming for gamers on "Warzone 2.0," and it will debut different features and experiences that will allow them to further progress on the game. The company calls this the "road" to Season 2, which puts a spotlight on the famed DMZ mode and the many changes it will see.

Several weeks ago, gamers were furious after Infinity Ward and Activision wiped the inventories as it began rolling out Season 2, particularly on the DMZ mode (as per ComicBook Gaming).

Season 2 centers on Ashika Island, the latest setting for the battlefield, where gamers may strategize and dominate enemies in a winner takes all game.

DMZ Mode in 'Warzone 2.0' to Require Payments

However, that is not the largest change in Season 2, as the developers are now looking into shaking things up for the DMZ mode.

According to Infinity Ward, one of the main reasons why there is a refresh in the mode is because " Mission progress in Season 01 got too difficult, too quickly. With Season 02 we're making sure each mission's challenge and time requirements are more balanced."

Also, it requires gaming payments but does not ask for them directly. It asks gamers to own a version of the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," which is priced at $70 to continue their DMZ experience.

For now, this is the setup on "Warzone 2.0."

Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward worked together again to deliver one of the most anticipated games in 2022 that would deliver a sequel to its successful battle royale released during the pandemic. The company brought "Warzone 2.0" first for the PlayStation platform on October 28, and the rest got it on November 16.

In its first release, the game already received negative comments from a known streamer, Dr. DisRespect, who claimed that its featured DMZ Mode does not live up to the hype.

It has been several months since the company released the game, and there are several rumors that it is already losing player count despite being its top-rated title.

Despite the negative comments and current experiences in the game, its developers are still pushing for new experiences and content for the battle royale title. Gamers may expect significant changes come Season 2, especially if they had a taste of the DMZ mode, which they initially enjoyed for free, soon to be behind a paywall.
