Developer screenshots of Apple's 'iOS in the Car' have appeared on Twitter, hinting that the company may release the feature soon.
Apple announced iOS in the Car at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2013. iOS in the Car was supposed to feature in iOS 7; however, it has been a few months since Apple released its latest mobile operating system but the iOS in the Car page on Apple's website still sports a "coming soon" label.
The wait for the iOS in the Car, however, may soon end as a developer has posted a few screenshots of the developer's version of iOS in the Car on Twitter, which suggests that it may not be long before the feature is released for consumers as well. The leaked screenshots of iOS in the Car is different from what Apple showed at the WWDC. The company seems to have made changes from the initial version to enhance customer experience.
"iOS in the Car seamlessly integrates your iOS device - and the iOS experience - with your in-dash system. If your vehicle is equipped with iOS in the Car, you can connect your iPhone 5 and interact with it using the car's built-in display and controls or Siri Eyes Free. Now you can easily and safely make phone calls, access your music, send and receive messages, get directions and more. It's all designed to let iPhone focus on what you need, so you can focus on the road," per Apple.
iOS in the Car is expected to deliver an interface that will let its users control music, messages, maps, and more using the car's on-board infotainment system. Apple has already signed agreements with many automakers such as BMW, Mercedes, Honda and other car makers; however, the company still remains mum on the release of iOS in the Car.
Even though Apple has not confirmed an exact release date for iOS in the Car, rumors suggest that the feature may be a part of the upcoming iOS 7.1 software update.
