Frontier: 5 Gbps Fiber Internet is now Available in the US—But Is It Still a Thing?

This company is offering fiber, and it reached a new record-breaking speed.

There is a new offer from Frontier that centers on providing a fast internet connection, with its top-tier allocation of 5 Gbps that is now available in the country. US subscribers may avail of this latest WiFi connectivity plan from Frontier, centering on the fiber connections from terrestrial lines that are still a known reliable service.

The focus of today's internet is that there are faster connections that do not need to be land-based or have a rigorous installation process, but fiber fights back with this improvement in its speed.

Frontier announced via a news release that it is now offering symmetrical 5 Gbps speeds for its fiber internet plans to subscribers in the United States. This is part of the company's purpose in "Building Gigabit America," a project it aims to deliver to the country land-based connections to bring the top service for all.

Symmetrical speeds mean that it would apply for both the download and upload speeds, giving as much as 5 Gbps to its subscribers under the plan.

The company upgraded its services after introducing 2 GB internet from the past year, and has upscaled it to "125x faster upload speeds, 5x faster download speeds and 2.5x less latency than cable."

Is Fiber Still a Thing? Should You Go For It?

The company's service relies on fiber to deliver this new top speed, but there are other choices in the market apart from the terrestrial connections, especially in the United States.

According to Engadget, the speed improvements came with a price hike on Frontier's service, with as much as $180 per month to pay for the 5 Gbps.

Still, it is one of the best deals, and fiber internet is known for years in reliability and speeds delivered to its subscribers.

Internet Connections in the World

Internet is a significant factor in the public's lives now, and it is because this keeps them connected to almost every aspect of technology, social media, and relationships. Indeed, the internet brought the world together and opened it up in its development, and one of the pillars of this was the broadband internet.

However, towards the new decade, people have been given more choices regarding their connection, and it centers on cellular internet via 5G at home as offered by T-Mobile, and other connections.

Another iconic mode of connection is the satellite internet, and it is not only SpaceX's Starlink that aims to provide the world with an orbit-based connection to beam down its signals.

Broadband is still the mode that internet service providers (ISPs) use to deliver the connection, but it has evolved drastically throughout the years, with different sources and applications towards it. Fiber is the fastest there is for the terrestrial-based internet connections, using fiber optics to carry its signals, with Frontier offering significant speeds now.
