Valorant, Riot Game's first-person shooter, will be coming to consoles eventually. This news is indeed a piece of evidence that video game developer continues to expand.

No definite date has been set for the adaptation to consoles, although it is in the works.

Changes in the Making

When Riot Games first debuted its 2009 video game League of Legends, it received widespread appreciation from gamers across the world. It was only playable via its proprietary client and would not be made accessible on Steam or Epic Games Store until 2021.

Meanwhile, the production of Valorant did not begin until 2020. According to GameRant, porting the game from PC to other devices might take as much or less time than the first go-around with League of Legends.

Riot's executive producer on Valorant, Anna Donlon, acknowledged in the studio's most recent Dev Diaries video on YouTube that the port's development is proceeding. However, the progress may be slower than the company, and its audience had anticipated.

"We are continuing our work on bringing Valorant to new platforms. It's going slower than we'd hoped, probably slower than you'd hoped, but we want to get it right," Donlon stated.

Since Riot's engine is one of a kind and over a decade old, it presents several challenges when attempting a transfer.

While Riot is still working on Valorant, the video informed viewers that new meta systems would be included to reduce toxic behavior. The players would be given more opportunities to get loot, and more game modes, including Team Deathmatch and Premier Competitive Mode, would be added.

Commitment to Expand

Riot has a long way to go before players can enjoy Valorant on console, but the developer is committed to achieving its goal.

To further stress its point, it has signed a contract with Microsoft and plans to have its games available on the Xbox. A perk for gamers to connect their Microsoft accounts to Riot is instant access to hundreds of playable champions, skins, and other goodies.

Riot is looking forward to their titles appearing on consoles in the future.

Using a gamepad may be unfamiliar territory for seasoned League of Legends players if Riot ports the game to Xbox. Similarly, gamers who are accustomed to controlling their Valorant characters with a keyboard may have trouble transitioning to a gamepad.

Riot's use of high-quality advertising, graphics, and music, as well as its ventures into other media like the smash animated series Arcane, have proven a successful formula to win the hearts of gamers. And while Valorant's structure is similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), the inclusion of champion abilities sets it apart.
