When Apple debuted the MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max this 2023, it claimed to have 4K video resolution on its screen by default via its Liquid Retina XDR and ProMotion up to 120Hz. However, in its new guide, the company claimed that its display may reach 8K quality and deliver it to owners of the new Mac laptop.
Apple MacBook Pro 2023: How to Tap in the 8K Power
According to Apple, three devices are capable of debuting 8K resolution from its devices, and it is namely the MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max, and the Mac mini introduced in 2023 with the M2 Pro chip. These are the only technology in its lineup that centers on an "8K display, as well as 4K with refresh rates of up to 240Hz, and VRR (variable refresh rates) on a compatible external display."
The Cupertino giant said that to tap into the 8K display quality, they need to have an external device they can connect their Mac, for the experience.
Moreover, it is also ideal to have an Ultra High-Speed HDMI connector that is capable of 48 Gbps. Apple said that it is ideal to connect it directly to the computer and avoid using an adapter.
Some external displays need to be setup on its menu before getting the said 8K resolution, and televisions may have it under "game mode" or VRR.
8K Display on a Mac to Enjoy Better Quality
According to 9to5 Mac, there are not a lot of gaming monitors that feature 8K display now, and while there are some, not all offer HDMI connections that can hook up one's Mac to the device. However, there are several 8K televisions available in the market now, and it may help in delivering the new display for the Macs, to get more in their viewing or gaming experience.
Apple Displays and 8K
One of the earliest rumors regarding the 8K displays was from LG, with a 2015 speculation on Apple releasing a device with an 8K display that centers on delivering the best quality to users. This device is called the "iMac 8K," and despite not releasing to the public or talked about by the company, it was something that would head to that quality sometime in the future.
There was also previous speculation that Apple will change the displays on its iMac lineup with three creations from LG, but this did not arrive for the device. It is known that the iMac M1 got the Retina display from Apple, and not the rumored Pro Display XDR that will change the experience on the famous PC from Cupertino.
Despite Apple not diving into AMOLED or OLED for its displays, it still sees many people satisfied with what it brings to the table, especially with its colors and brightness available. It also is capable of debuting a native 4K display, and this new update centers on the company detailing how to get the new 8K experience with the latest MacBook Pro.
