It can be recalled that the brand is one of the first major motorcycle manufacturers to produce electric motorcycles in the last decade, which is why it comes as no surprise that the company has plans to make all-electric motorcycles in the future.

However, it is going to be a long-term transition. The good thing is, the company is known to evolve in the past 120 years. In addition, the company is not afraid to make big changes.

LiveWire

It can be recalled that the very first Harley-Davidson electric motorcycles was named LiveWire, which was launched in 2019. Following that, the brand spin out their electric motorcycle operations under the sub-brand LiveWire, which gave birth to the LiveWire One.

The LiveWire One as inspired from Harley-Davidson's first electric motorcycle.

Today, LiveWire is about to bring the second model to production, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar. This is reported to be a more mass market electric motorcycle that is aimed at younger, urban riders.

The Rise of Electric Motorcycles

Meanwhile, Harley-Davidson is not the only major brand to plan for all-electric future. BMW has announced that it is going to phase out internal combustion engines to focus on electric vehicles within the next decade, which is a move that is supported by nearly all major motorcycle manufacturers.

The rise of electric motorbikes was not just reinforced by the shift towards the rise of electric vehicles in the auto industry, but it is also driven by the growing interest of younger riders towards electric motorcycles. This is because they are now becoming more accessible to the young riders.

Some of the benefits that are being offered by electric motorcycles is its ease of use. There is no need to care for them regularly, especially when it comes to its maintenance. They are more of a plug-and-play type of motorcycles. Moreover, electric motorcycles are also becoming more attractive to the eyes of the general public, since they are very much in line with the designs of the modern motorcycles.

However, the transition is not going to be easy. The rise of electric motorcycles is a result of the market's push for cleaner and greener transportation, which is a move that is a big challenge to the automotive industry.

Nevertheless, Harley-Davidson has promised to surpass any challenges that they face during the transition. This is a bold move that shows that they are very determined to change in the near future. Meanwhile, we anticipate that more brands will venture into the electric motorcycle market in the next few years.
