Meta's Instagram unveils its own year-end compilation for users, and here's how you can customize your reel template.
Amidst the social media trend of personalized year-end data that netizens can share with their friends, Meta's Instagram has hopped on to the trend with this year's Instagram Recap Reels.
Instagram's Recap Reels are similar to the trending Spotify Wrapped, Steam Replay, Apple Music Replay, and more. However, since the feature is still fairly new, here is a quick guide on how to use it.
What Is the New Instagram Recap Feature?
Instagram is utilizing its Reels as the most recent addition to the social media year-in-review trend.
According to CNET, Instagram recently added a 2022 recap feature, joining other well-known apps like Spotify and BeReal that allow users to reflect on the content they viewed and created over the course of the year to share with their friends or followers.
"After choosing your template and narration, you'll manually select your own content - videos, photos, and memories - from the past year to feature in your Reel and share with your followers." According to Instagram.
The new Instagram Recap is similar to its past feature last year, called Instagram Playback, according to Engadget, which customized a collage of your top nine Instagram stories.

How To Create Instagram Recap 2022 Reels
The 'Create Your 2022 Recap Reel' in-stream prompt on Instagram now guides users through adding photos and videos they've shared during the year to a specific Reels template.
According to ScreenRant, the new feature is accessible through a Reels template, allowing users to share at least three pieces of material from the year with their followers. You can select your collage to be synced to a DJ Khaled, Badshah, Bad Bunny, or Priah Ferguson from Stranger Things narrated audio.
Additionally, the Instagram Recap Reels template is now offered in English, Spanish, and Hindi. The template will be available for several weeks into 2023.
The Growing Popularity of Instagram Reels
Over the past year, the new reels feature has seen significant growth for Meta. According to the business, Reels is currently played more than 140 billion times daily across Facebook and Instagram.
Instagram Reels are short video formats that can last up to 60 seconds. This novel format opens up a whole new realm of artistic possibilities and offers authors various methods to engage their audiences. Reels allow marketers to reach a wider audience and even go viral, in addition to providing diversity to their Instagram feed.
In recent months, Meta has improved both of its TikTok rival applications by adding features, including tools that make it simpler to construct Reels, an in-app Reels scheduler, and ways to post to Reels from other apps.
The growing popularity may be due to Reels being easily accessible on Instagram, and swiping up will take you to the following Reel. The algorithm quickly picks up on your preferences and will show you more, just like on all the popular apps like TikTok. Thus, Reels have proven to be a winner in terms of brand recognition.
