Instagram’s New Feature Will Only Let You See Three Stories at Once: Bad News for Content Creators?

The popular feature "Stories" of Instagram has been a key in the success of the social app since people are able to enjoy sharing everything that happens in their life through 24-hour photos and videos.

However, this feature might be changed in the coming months since Instagram is now testing a new layout for Stories that hides excessive posts.

Bad News for Creators?

Instagram Stories are beneficial for content creators since they can interact with their fans or subscribers in real-time through short video clips or images. The new layout could spell out bad news for them since the number of posts they share will be limited and their endorsements and content posted on Stories might be compromised.

Brazilian Instagram user Phil Ricelle was the first person to notice this new feature when his Instagram only allowed him to view three stories shared by each account that he was following, according to Tecnoblog's report.

This could prove to be a drastic change for Instagram users, since they are accustomed to clicking through every story of the accounts they're following regardless if they are excessive or not.

But this feature could no longer be possible after the update and for creators who have more than three stories, they are likely to gain a smaller number of views.

However, on the brighter side, limiting the displayed number of stories from accounts could mean that other creators would be given the chance to be viewed more quickly since the competition field could be equalized for them.

It will also allow users the chance to skip through a barrage of stories especially if they are not interested with the content.

Will There Be An Option to View More Stories?

The current Stories lets the Instagram user post 100 images or videos all at once. Luckily, the new layout will still retain this option even if the update becomes official.

But will there still be an option to view more than three stories? The answer is yes.

In order to view all of the stories posted by an Instagram user, you must tap a "Show All button" to see the rest of the Stories posted. If this option is not enabled, you will continue to view three stories all at once until the app jumps to the next person's Stories.

This update could prove to be significant because instead of showing "more Stories" it will instead display "more users" albeit with fewer posts. But at the same time, it could let the user view all of the stories available in their feed.

As of now, the feature is only available to a small group of users who have received the new update. The new Stories layout is likely to be made widely accessible once the testing is met with positive feedback from its users. If the testing is unsuccessful, it is likely that the changes will never take its full effect.

Meanwhile, the social app announced earlier that it is working on its full NFT integration that lets its users connect to their digital wallet, share digital collectibles, and automatic tagging of both the creator and collector.
