Instagram Stories has a new feature for users to enjoy, and it is to send a like without needing to notify others or clutter up the messages inbox. The purpose is to send a "Private Like" without bothering a user with notifications because a person wants to send a reaction to a particular story they agree with or like from Instagram.
Instagram Stories: Send a Private Like and Don't Clutter the DMs
Instagram's head Adam Mosseri greets the public a Happy Valentine's Day but also introduces a new feature on the platform, and that is through IG Stories. Here, users can send a Private Like via the "Heart Icon" seen on the story's buttons on the lower right of the page, beside the send a message, paper airplane icon, and the "..." three-dot option.
Private Likes aim to allow users to send reactions that will promote supporting other users or influencers without the need to clutter up their direct message inbox. The goal is to clean up the DMs and inbox for users and minimize the notifications that come in for users to avoid bothering notices for small things like a reaction.

Instagram's Offers for Users: Send In Discreet Like Notifs
Users now ask if the Instagram Stories' Private Likes would have analytics available for content creators or influencers, primarily as it can determine the performance of the posts. Now that it has likes that will come from users, they can monitor its performance on the public, especially with what the user has to offer.
Moreover, the discreet notifications will help in giving people an option to support without the need to show up on the DMs.
Instagram's Features Bring More Control For Users
Instagram is planning a lot of big offers for users in the coming months, and it is aiming to give users more control over social media, like the new feature of sending personal likes. One of which is allowing users to personalize and change the grid to fit more of the user's feed, something that was not available before as it follows a chronological order.
However, Instagram may also be planning to change how people view stories, and it will resemble that of TikTok with vertical scrolling. The Instagram Reels already adopted the vertical scrolling feature like in TikTok's feed, both in the Following or For You page that brings users to different videos in every scroll.
The need to skip would only require a swipe up, which resembles a feed scrolling on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.
The popular social media's disappearing content via the Stories has been receiving notifications like wildfire, and it resembles that of feed likes or comments.
However, that is about to change as users can send in personal likes that will only be seen via the viewer's sheet, something already available before but changed to giving users a notification and a DM visibility.
