New AWD Configuration for Model Y?
The recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approval hints that the Model Y AWD is currently in the works. Since then, speculation that Tesla is quietly working on the new configuration has begun igniting.
Inside EVs notes in its report that the database of EPA disclosed that the new AWD configuration sports a 279 miles or 449 km range rating. The listing says that it sports 4680-type batteries.
The media outlet highlighted that the upcoming AWD option is close to the current Model Y Long Range AWD offering.
To be more precise, the current option achieves up to 330 miles or 531 km. On the other hand, the Standard Range AWD is rumored to have an EPA rating of 279. Given that, the two AWD options are seemingly not far from each other, at least in terms of battery range.
