PlayStation boss Jim Ryan reportedly dismissed the Xbox Game Pass subscriber count.
Given that, it seems that the big boss of Sony Interactive Entertainment is not at all concerned with the strategy that Microsoft is taking to grow its gaming service.
PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan Dismisses Xbox Game Pass Subscriber Count
As per the latest report by Comicbook.com, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ryan, reportedly dismissed the growing users of the hit gaming subscription service of Microsoft, the Xbox Game Pass.
The big boss of PlayStation reportedly shrugged off the rivaling subscription platform during a question and answer session with the employees of the Sony gaming service.
Ryan reportedly highlighted the number of subscribers the Game Pass service has, comparing it to the sales figures of the ever-elusive PS5 gaming console.
The report from Insider Gaming says that Ryan told employees that "when we consider Game Pass, it seems to be getting lower numbers."
He reportedly boasted that Sony sold more PS5 units in the past two years "than they have gathered subscribers."
PS5 Sales in the Past Two Years
The PlayStation went on to continue with the comparison. He reportedly says that Microsoft has been offering its gaming subscription service for roughly six to seven years already.
Sources of Insider Gaming claim that Ryan furthered that "we're just shy of 50 million subscribers and they are in the low 20s, but there's more work to do to grow that number."
Given that alleged pronouncement of the PlayStation boss, it seems that what really matters to him is none other than the PS5 sales.
The PS5 gaming console has long been elusive, with restocks being a much-awaited event. Despite that, Sony still successfully sold millions of units since it first saw the light of day.
And for Ryan, it is what matters to him most. As such, he seems unconcerned with the impressive growth of the Xbox Game Pass these days.
No More PS5 Shortage Problems?
According to a story by The Gamer, Ryan recently disclosed during the PlayStation Partner Awards that PS5 consoles are going to be more ubiquitous.
The PlayStation boss says that Sony has "resolved the long-term supply issue of the PlayStation 5." Given that, Ryan assures that they will be "able to deliver to Japan and Asia customers from year-end shopping season and into 2023."
He also took the opportunity to apologize for the previous shortages of its gaming console. That said, it seems that more PS5 consoles are hitting the shelves next year.
