Google Pixel roadmap leaked, hinting that it might soon rival the Apple iPhone Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
The Pixel lineup is potentially expanding soon with a more expensive model. And on top of that, we might see a clamshell foldable from Google in the next few years.
Google Pixel Leaked Roadmap
As per a recent report by Android Authority, a leaked roadmap of Google Pixel gives us a glimpse of what the renowned tech giant is planning for the next few years.
The current Pixel offerings have been quite successful, starting with the Pixel 6 series. However, it is worth noting that the lineup of Google is quite limited compared to other giant phone makers like Samsung and Apple.
Currently, the Pixel 7 series only includes two models, the entry-level standard option and the top-of-the-line "Pro" variant. Google also offers a budget phone, the Pixel 6a.
But this time, the renowned search engine giant appears to be looking to expand this current lineup.
An anonymous source of Android Authority disclosed what looks to be the entire roadmap of Google for its Pixel phone for the next three years. And it appears that exciting times are coming.
Google Pixel Fold, Pixel 8 Debut in 2023
Next year or in 2023, Google is reportedly working on releasing its first-ever foldable and the successor of the Pixel 7 series.
The Pixel Fold is expected to rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, which sports a sandwich-like foldable display. It could potentially retail for roughly $1,799, according to Phone Arena.
Google is also reportedly gearing up to launch its two flagship devices, the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro.
The source of Android Authority says that the next-generation Pixel would have minor upgrades. However, the standard Pixel 8 is likely sporting a smaller display than its predecessor.
In the same year, the budget Pixel 7a is also debuting. It might receive upgrades, such as wireless charging and a smoother refresh rate than the Pixel 6a.
Google Pixel in 2024
In 2024, Google is planning to further expand its lineup. The leaked roadmap disclosed that the Pixel 9 series seemingly seeks to rival Apple's iPhone.
The Pixel 9 lineup might include two "Pro" variants, including a 6.3-inch option, much like the iPhone 14 Pro, and a bigger 6.7-inch model, which would rival the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Another Foldable in 2025?
For now, the anonymous source says that Google is thinking of pursuing a clamshell foldable to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip by 2025.
But if this plan does not hold up, it might end up introducing a four-model flagship lineup, similar to how Apple does it with its iPhones.
