Elon Musk already showed his interest in resigning as the Twitter CEO.
On Monday, Dec. 19, the billionaire posted a poll to ask users if he should step down as the social media platform's CEO.
"Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll," said Musk via his official Twitter poll.
If he ever resigns from being Twitter's head, who could replace him as the online platform's new CEO?
Who Could Replace Elon Musk as Twitter CEO?
CNN Business provided some of the people who could replace Elon Musk.
These include former CTO Mike Schroepfer and COO Sheryl Sandberg. However, Musk would have a hard time convincing these people to replace him.
Aside from these two, Jason Calacanis, Sriram Krishnan, and David Sacks are also great candidates for the Twitter CEO position:
- David Sacks (One of the original founding team members of PayPal who worked with Elon)
- Jason Calacanis (An early stage investor who has backed Uber, Robinhood, and other big companies)
- Sriram Krishnan (Krishnan is a crypto investor who has direct experience working on Twitter)
If Elon decides to choose one of the candidates mentioned above to replace him as the new Twitter CEO, he will have more time for other business activities.
But, he will still have more power since he owns most of the social media platform's shares.
Poll: Over 50% Wants Elon to Resign
As of writing, the official Twitter poll of Elon Musk has over 17 million votes.
More than 57% of the participant agree that the billionaire should step down as Twitter CEO. On the other hand, over 42% said no.
Musk said that he would abide by the results of the poll. However, he clarified that he would only step down if there's someone "foolish enough" to take his position.
He added that once he is no longer the Twitter CEO, he will just run the software and servers team of the social media company.
Right now, Twitter is still undergoing various platform changes.
Recently, we reported that Twitter accounts with links or usernames of rival social media platforms could be deactivated.
Some suspended journalist Twitter accounts were also previously restored.
