Amazon locks a deal with Games Workshop, a Britain-based creator of war games miniature, to bring "Warhammer 40,000" to the big screen.
Former "Superman" actor Henry Cavill will reportedly star in the live-action film.
As the streaming competition intensifies, the Seattle tech firm is pushing to have the upper hand against its rival companies in the industry, such as Netflix and HBO Max.
Amazon, Games Workshop to Focus on 'Warhammer 40K'
According to a report by Bloomberg, Amazon aims to create TV production through the help of the British developer of tabletop games.
While the two companies already agreed to produce a "Warhammer 40,000" film anytime soon, the announcement did not announce the commercial terms of the agreement.
Cavill, the actor who will star in the upcoming animated series, says he's excited to see the Warhammer universe on the big screen.
"Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life," he added.
Since there's already a leading actor in the proposed story, Games Workshop and Amazon now need to find a producer, a filmmaker, and a creator who could polish the remaining elements of the franchise.
Henry Cavill Won't Return as Superman
DC Studios co-head James Gunn is reportedly writing an upcoming "Superman" film. With that being said, Cavill is expected to continue his journey as the protagonist of the next installment.
Unfortunately, that did not turn out as planned, as the actor officially announced on his Instagram account that he wouldn't return as one of the most popular figures of the DC Universe. Just two months ago, Cavill said he wouldn't play "Geralt of Rivia" in "The Witcher" on Netflix.
While fans are disappointed over Cavill's decision to ditch the Superman role, the actor felt the need to embrace his upcoming role in "Warhammer 40,000."
He revealed on his IG account that his "almost life-long" hobby is painting a small toy figure popularized by Games Workshop. The miniature draws inspiration from the Warhammer franchise.

Games Workshop's Shares Skyrocket
According to Reuters, the London-listed company says that its shares increased by 15% on Friday, Dec. 16, after announcing that he would participate in the upcoming Games Workshop deal.
While there was an improvement in Games Workshop's shares at that time, Amazon appears to be on a different page after posting a 0.5% decrease in its shares in US premarket trading.
In the meantime, it is expected that Amazon and the British firm will continue the discussion when it comes to production. More importantly, they might talk about the project development and rights grant in the next few weeks.
