Tesla Semi Truck EV Might be on its Way to Canada

The EV maker seems to be laying the groundwork in Canada.

Tesla Semi Truck electric vehicle (EV) is likely gearing up to hit the roads of Canada after its deliveries kick off in North America.

Now that the all-electric truck is available in the United States, it might expand to Canada soon enough. It looks like the giant EV maker is working to bring its heavy truck to another North American nation.

Tesla Semi Truck EV Might Hit Canada Roads Soon

As per the latest report by Inside EVs, the Elon Musk-owned automaker might soon bring its new Semi electric truck to Canada.

While the EV maker has yet to make such an announcement, its proposals highly suggest the expansion.

Inside EVs reports that Tesla has already submitted its proposal in time for the federal budget of the Canadian nation for next year or in 2023. The EV maker appears to be encouraging a better infrastructure to boost electric car sales in the country.

The official letter of the Musk-owned firm addressed to the Canada Minister of Finance, and Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, hints at the arrival of the Semi.

It is worth noting that the letter does not clearly state that the electric truck is already on its way. However, it highly suggests that the EV maker is gearing up for that.

The letter actually focuses on the charging infrastructure in Canada. But it also mentioned "medium and heavy-duty transportation fleets" in its proposal.

It says that "to sustainably support increased demand for electrified medium and heavy-duty transportation fleets, adequate charging infrastructure must be available to support short and long-haul transportation routes from coast to coast."

The giant automaker highlights that the support of the government is necessary to further boost the demand for vehicles like the Tesla Semi. Once the infrastructure has been addressed, the electric truck might potentially hit the roads of Canada.

First Tesla Semi Deliveries

According to a recent news story by Reuters, the first-ever heavy-duty truck of Tesla has kicked off its deliveries in the US.

The beverage and snack giant, Pepsi Co, has received its first batch of electric Semi trucks, which the firm ordered way back in 2017.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla says that the Semi outperforms the diesel-powered haulers while reducing emissions on highways.

Now, five years since the Tesla boss announced its heavy-duty truck, it has started its deliveries. And it might soon hit the roads of Canada as the EV maker is already reaching out to its government.
