The iPhone maker introduced this new cybersecurity feature to further protect users' iCloud data.

Numerous privacy-focused advocates were happy with the new end-to-end encryption feature of Apple.

Among these groups is the Electronics Frontier Foundation (EFF).

"Encryption is one of the most important tools we have for maintaining privacy and security online," said EFF.

But, other organizations are quite disappointed with the arrival of Apple's Advanced Data Protection option.

According to Digital Trends' latest report, the latest iCloud E2E encryption enhancement of the gadget maker could clash with the U.K. government.

This is because the U.K. government will have legislation that will demand messaging applications to allow authorities to order in-app changes.

A U.K. government spokesperson explained that they should not be prevented from protecting the public, as reported by The Guardian.

The official further stated that the new E2E encryption would prevent them from gathering data needed to catch criminals.

Other Organizations Support Apple

While the U.K. government shares its disappointment, civil liberties groups defend the new Advanced Data Protection of Apple.

Jim Killock, the Open Rights Group director, said that the Home Office should stop getting in the way of companies and putting consumers at risk.

He added that officials should support the encrypted technologies instead of undermining them.

Killock further stated that the DCMS and Home Office should stop controlling, compromising, and limiting the rise of encryption features using online safety bill.

"Mass insecurity is a boon to criminals who want our personal information for malware and fraud," explained Jim.

As of press time, the new iCloud E2E encryption option is only available in the United States. But, Apple confirmed that it will launch this cybersecurity feature globally as early as 2023.
